The Canalmen (5-1) were quick out of the gate Wednesday night. Will Humfryes charged in on the Wareham net just 1:13 into the game firing a hard shot that Viking goalie John Colp blocked. A minute later Justin Desharnais beat Colp on the right side after skating the puck in from the blue line for the first BHS goal in a 9-1 Bourne win.

Twenty-seven seconds after Desharnais’s goal Humfryes tucked the puck inside the net from behind to give Bourne a 2-0 advantage.

Wareham had a 40-second power play advantage that Beau LaFlamme, Eric Anderson, Humfryes, and Devin Welch killed allowing just two shots. A Viking penalty gave Bourne a 50-second power play advantage on the back side of the overlapping penalties, however, the Canalmen came up empty.

Bourne opened it up in the second stanza taking advantage of an early Wareham penalty. Desharnais hammered a shot from the left side face-off circle that flew past Colp. Tom Davis made it a 4-0 Bourne lead 4:04 into the second off a pass from Stephen Kashalena on the right side.

Bourne goalie Josh Eddy made a skate save going to his right with 8:44 to play in the second and then stopped two more quick Viking shots. With 3:49 left  he blocked another two Wareham bids from up close.

Humfryes launched a quick shot from the slot with 3:00 left off a pass from Crowley that got past Colp for a 5-0 lead. The Vikings got onto the scoreboard with 2:42 to play in the middle stanza on a shot by Justin Sumner.

Crowley put the Canalmen on top 6-1 early in the third period. He then jumped on a rebound with 8:53 left in the game and knocked it past Colp.

LaFlamme landed the eighth BHS goal 10 seconds later after taking the puck off the face-off and skating it down the left side and drilling it into the Wareham net ending Colp’s night. Brock Tucy finished the game for the Vikings.

Bourne scored their ninth goal with 7:42 remaining on a shot from in front by Jeff Baranowski off a pass from behind by Eric Ohnemus.

Wareham had a late power play that the Canalmen killed through the combined efforts of Kashalena, Davis, Devon Pauley, Welch, Ohnemus, Jeff Small, and Joe English.

Bourne outshot Wareham 33-20.

The Canalmen opened the New Year Saturday with a 3-1 victory over Old Rochester. All of Bourne’s scoring was done in the opening period. Desharnais opened the scoring, with Pauley registering the second goal followed by Welch. Tyler Hunt assisted on all three Bourne goals. The Bulldogs scored their lone goal in the third period on a power play.

Eddy picked up the win in goal for the Canalmen making 17 saves.
