Bourne/UCT Boys’ Track Races Past Fairhaven

The Bourne/UCT boys’ track team boosted their record to 4-2 Wednesday night with a 61-25 victory over Fairhaven.

Joe Epps was a double winner for the Canalmen posting victories in the 50 yard dash with a personal best mark of 5.7 seconds and in the 300 meter with another personal best time of 39.5 seconds. Combined Bourne/UCT set 11 new personal best marks.

Nigel Jackson (7.8) finished first in the 50 yard high hurdles and also delivered a third place finish in the high jump clearing 5-1. Matt White won the high jump at 5-7 and also took second in the 600 meter at 1:41.6.

Hunter Silva (3:06.2) won the 1000 meter and Dan Moscaritolo took first in the two-mile at 12:45. Dylan Arsenault finished first in the shot put with a throw of 39-11.5 and took second in the 50 yard dash with a personal best 5.8 seconds. Luke Roy set a personal best in the 600 meter winning the event in 1:39.9.

Ryan McKenna delivered two second place finishes. He took second in the 1000 meter at 3:16.2 and second in the two-mile, crossing the line in 12:47. Michael Dunn (8.5) was second in the high hurdles and third in the 600 meter at 1:47.2, and Peter Balkam ran second in the one-mile in a personal best time of 6:10.2.

Max Griggs also added to the scoring with a third place finish of 41.6 seconds in the 300 meter.

The Lady Canalmen (0-6) came out on the short end of a 68-18 score. Amy Weeks delivered the only first place finish for Bourne/UCT taking the high jump at 4-8. Weeks posted one of the team’s nine personal best marks with second place in the 50 yard dash at 6.7 seconds. She also posted a personal best in the 300 meter taking third place in 50.7 seconds.

Danielle Kent (1:58.1) ran a personal best in the 600 meter taking third. Cecelia Alldredge posted a personal best in the 1000 meter at 3:49.2 and Kristyn Trant (7:27.4) ran third in the one-mile for the Lady Canalmen.

Miranda Kalbach tied for second place in the high jump with Carissa Tuttle at 4-2.

On Saturday the Canalmen competed in the Massachusetts State Coaches Association Division 3 State Relays at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston.

Joe Epps (54.9), Damen Blankenship (69.5), Hunter Silva (61.5), and Nigel Jackson (60.2) ran the 4x4 relay finishing 25th in the 32-team field with a time of 4:05.69.

In the 1600 meter relay Epps (24.0) and Robert Marshall (25.0) ran the 200 meter legs, Silva (61.3) ran the 400 meter and Matt White (2:14) ran the 800 meter. The Canalmen posted a time of 4:05.27 finishing 22 in a field of 37 teams. As a team the Canalmen were 35th out of 39 teams.

The Lady Canalmen took 27th place in the 4x4 relay in a field of 37. Amy Weeks (67.5), Miranda Kalbach (72.4), Danielle Kent (71.7), and Becca Faria (73.4) ran a time of 4:44.35, improving on last season’s time of 4:45.12.

In the 1600 meter Kalbach (31.2) and Kaleigh Sullivan (32.3) ran the 200 meter, Weeks (71.1) ran the 400 meter and Faria (3:01.7) ran the 800 meter for a time of 5:16 and 34th place in a field of 44 teams. As a team the Lady Canalmen finished 35th out of 45.
