BHS Volleyball Team Ready To Defend State Title

The Barnstable High girls’ volleyball team will be the South Sectional’s second-seeded team when the Red Raiders begin their quest for a third straight and 14th overall Division 1 state championship.

The Red Raiders, who posted a 16-1 record in the 2012 regular season to earn their number two seeding, will play their tournament opener at home against the winner of the first-round matchup of seventh-seeded Stoughton and 10th-seeded Braintree, which is scheduled to be played tomorrow in Stoughton.

Longtime rival New Bedford (17-1) is the top-seeded team in the 11-team South Sectional field.
