Sandwich Swimmers & Divers Rule The Pool

 The Sandwich swimmers and divers improved their record to 2-0 with a win over Bridgewater-Raynham on Wednesday. The Lady Knights sank B-R, 95-84, while the boys’ team was a 93-86 winner.

The girls won nine events, including two of the relays. Cat Felicetti won the 200 freestyle (2:14.53) and the 100 freestyle (59.68) and was a member of the winning medley relay and 400 freestyle relay. Kyra Crossman won the butterfly (1:09.53) and the backstroke (1:11.30) and was also a member of the winning medley relay and 400 freestyle relay teams.

Emily McMahon won the breaststroke (1:17.53) and was a member of the two winning relay teams. Sarah Briggs was the fourth member of the winning relays.

Kaitlyn Scott was also a winner for the Lady Knights, finishing first in the individual medley in a time of 2:34.29. Briggs also had second-place finishes in the 200 freestyle (2:21.90) and the 500 freestyle (6:28.73).

Megan Forrester won the diving with Mackenzie Hagist taking second.

The Sandwich boys won seven events. Alex Simpson won the 200 freestyle (1:52.91) and the 500 freestyle (5:02.53) and was a member of the winning 400 freestyle team along with Brian Hann, Brian Cundiff and Mike Allen.

Evan Denmark won the 50 freestyle (26.35) and Tim Titcomb won the diving with Jake Kangas finishing second. Cundiff won the butterfly (56.19) and Mike Deptula won the 100 freestyle (58.00).

Cundiff swam second in the individual medley (2:18.10), Hann was second in the backstroke (1:04.07) and AJ Maiato swam second in the breaststroke (1:17.60).

The new co-ed Sandwich swimming and diving team opened the winter season with wins against Coyle & Cassidy last week. The boys posted wins in all but two events, bringing home a 48-33 victory, while the Lady Knights won every event by a 52-24 score.

The boys’ team of Hann, Simpson, Cundiff and Deptula opened with a win of the medley relay in a time of 1:54.17.
Cundiff (2:07.18) won the 200 freestyle, Hann (2:24.45) took second in the individual medley and Titcomb (27.53) won the 50 freestyle.

There was no diving.

Cundiff (57.86) swam second in the butterfly. Simpson (51.18) won the 100 freestyle and also the 500 freestyle (6:23.48). The team of Titcomb, Allen, Andrew Sivco and Denmark were first in the 200 freestyle relay at 1:54.76. Hann (1:05.49) won the backstroke and Maiato (1:20.15) won the breaststroke. The Knights wrapped it up with the team of Hann, Simpson, Cundiff and Deptula winning the 400 freestyle relay in 4:02.42.

The Lady Knights opened with the team of Cat Felicetti, McMahon, Crossman and Briggs winning the medley relay in 2:06.61. Felicetti (2:14.43) won the 200 freestyle, Crossman (2:31.73) won the individual medley and Katie Hurley (30.14) won the 50 freestyle.

Kaitlyn Scott (1:20.68) took first in the butterfly, Briggs (1:03.98) won the 100 freestyle and McMahon (6:20.43) took first in the 500 freestyle.

The team of Miranda Swift, Maddie Kielczewski, Emma Colombo and Kathy Dennis won the 200 freestyle relay in 2:07.69. Sophia Felicetti (1:28.53) won the backstroke and Gabby Ryan (1:25.20) was first in the breaststroke. Cat Felicetti, Crossman, McMahon and Briggs brought it home with a win in the 400 freestyle relay in 4:11.56.
