Mashpee High School Athletic Director Matt Triveri announced the hiring of a new head coach for the boys' lacrosse program this week. Former Bourne High School head coach, and current assistant MHS football coach, Wayne MacDonald will be taking over the reins of the Falcons' lax program for the season that will start this spring.

"We're very fortunate to have a guy like Wayne in our system and ready to go," Triveri said. "He's a top notch coach, and I think he's going to do a great job."

MacDonald is a physical education teacher in his first year at Mashpee High School. He is a 2001 graduate of Sandwich High School, and 2012 graduate of Bridgewater State University. He was a four year varsity defensemen for the Blue Knights and played on club teams and in indoor leagues after high school, leading to an interest in coaching.

With one year of experience as an assistant coach at Bourne, Coach MacDonald was named the Canalmen Head Lacrosse Coach last year for the 2012 season.

Coach MacDonald also served two years as an Assistant Football Coach (Running Backs and Wide Receivers) at Bridgewater State University and spent eight years in the reserves as a United States Marine.

"He's an old school type of guy, a line in the sand type of guy," Triveri said. "With that said, he relates really well to kids and I think he's going to do well here."
