Bourne High School Student Receives MIAA Student-Athlete Of The Month Award

Devin Delfino, a senior at Bourne High School, has been selected by the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association as the Student-Athlete of the Month for October 2010.

A member of the Bourne High School varsity soccer team, Devin Delfino has served as a team captain for the past two years. As a goalkeeper, he was named the team Most Valuable Player following his junior season. Devin was also selected as a South Coast Conference All-Star. This season, he has played a major role in the Bourne High School boys’ soccer team’s qualification for the MIAA tournament and their overall record of 11-2-5.

Academically, Devin Delfino takes a very demanding college preparatory program that includes many honors and advanced placement level classes. He is a member of the National Honor Society and carries a 4.17 GPA. Devin successfully completed a course in Peer Leadership and volunteers numerous hours tutoring students at the Bourne Middle School. He was one of a select few chosen to represent his local area at Boys State due to the qualities he has shown in the areas of leadership, character, scholarship, loyalty, and service. Bourne High School Athletic Secretary Tina Canterbury says, “Devin is constantly working hard to keep up his grades and is a great role model for younger students and athletes in our school.

The MIAA launched the Student-Athlete of the Month award program to honor students who set a positive example of leadership through academics and athletics in their communities. One male and one female student-athlete from MIAA member schools are selected as recipients of this award each month.
