The Upper Cape Tech softball team improved their record to 9-1 on Wednesday, April 30, with a 15-1 victory over visiting Sturgis East.
The Rams scored seven times in the bottom of the first and picked up one more in the second. The Storm scored their run in the top of the third making the score 8-1.
UCT came back with two more runs in the fourth and five in the fifth.
Amelia Weare pitched all five innings for the Rams in picking up her ninth win. She held Sturgis to two hits, while striking out six.
Krystle DiBona scored three times for the Rams, with Amber DiBona, Molly Horn, Hannah Rawlings, Hunter Cook and Kim Wight each scoring twice.
The Rams surrendered two runs in the top of the first to visiting Bristol Aggie on Tuesday, April 29, but roared back in the bottom of the frame scoring seven times on the way to a 19-6 victory.
“We came back and played our game with bunts, speed and timely hitting,” coach Mike Carrier said. “We put up seven runs and we weren’t done.”
UCT posted two more runs in the second inning, one in the third and then exploded for nine runs in the fifth.
Krystle DiBona, Amber DiBona and Rawlings combined for 11 hits and nine RBI. Krystle DiBona had four hits, two RBI and scored four runs. Amber DiBona had four hits, four RBI and scored two runs and Rawlings went three for four with a double, knocking in three runs and scoring three.
Bristol Aggie scored four times in the top of the fifth.
Weare pitch all five innings, scattering seven hits, six runs, five of which were earned
Weare pitched the Rams to an 8-4 victory over Falmouth on Friday, April 25. Weare went the distance holding the Clippers to five hits, while striking out seven. Only three of the FHS runs were earned. At the plate Weare finished the day two for three, with three RBI.
Krystle DiBona had three hits and scored three runs. Amber DiBona also finished the day with three hits and scored a run.
The Rams (9-1, 4-0 MAC) need one more win to qualify for the state tournament. UCT is scheduled to play Sturgis East Friday, May 2, at 4 PM.
